Tottenham have moved ahead of Juventus in the transfer battle for AC Milan star Franck Kessie. Spurs chief Fabio Paratici is behind the deal after making an intervention.
Tottenham are ready to ramp up their efforts to sign Kessie from AC Milan after an intervention from transfer chief Paratici. The north London side are desperate to bolster their midfield with several unfancied options under Nuno Espirito Santo. Tanguy Ndombele has been largely ostracised while Harry Winks was on the brink of an exit in the transfer window. It has left Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Oliver Skipp as Nuno’s only options while Dele All plays further forward.
A strong midfielder is top of the wish list for Tottenham, as a result, and they have found one that is said to be flattered over the interest in his services. AC Milan star Kessie has been one of the best performers in Serie A for a number of years now and has courted attention from some big clubs. Juventus have been the favourites to snap up the Ivorian, who has also been scouted by the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United. But according to JuveLive, via Sport Witness, Tottenham’s interest has caught the attention of the 24-year-old.
Spurs are taking a closer look at the former Atalanta star largely as a result of Paratici’s influence. The former Juventus chief knows Serie A well and he has already had a big effect on the club with the signings of Pierluigi Gollini and Cristian Romero. And now he wants to conclude a deal for Kessie from AC Milan with Tottenham moving ahead of Juve in the race for his signature. A transfer could be completed as early as January, too, the report states, with the midfielder’s contract expiring at the end of the season.
