An absolutely huge upset has occurred in the Champions League on Tuesday evening.
Of all the games taking place on Tuesday, Manchester City and PSG looked set to prove the most entertaining, with both sides likely favourites to win the competition this year.
Elsewhere, Liverpool smashed five past Porto and Atletico Madrid and AC Milan played out an enthralling encounter which saw the Spaniards come from behind to win 2-1.
However, it was the action in the other Madrid outfit’s game that certainly stole the headlines on Tuesday.
Real Madrid would play host to Sheriff Tiraspol at the Bernabeu in their second Champions League group tie of the season.
Los Blancos are once again under the management of Carlo Ancelotti and have enjoyed a solid start to the season under the Italian.
In the league, Madrid are unbeaten in their first seven outings of the campaign and look to be favourites to lift La Liga once more.
In the Champions League, meanwhile, Real Madrid previously picked up a 1-0 win over Inter Milan.
As a result, a win against Sheriff Tiraspol did seem very, very likely.
Tiraspol are a Moldovan football team that was only founded in 1997.
Tiraspol have never played in the Champions League before this seaosn, previously making it to the Europa League group stages on four occasions.
But with such little pedigree and Madrid one of the best sides in the world, it seemed obvious that the Spaniards would emerge with a win on Tuesday.
However, that did not prove to be the case, with Tiraspol taking the lead in the tie after just 25 minutes.
Karim Benzema did pull one back for the hosts after 65 minutes.
But just as it looked as though Tiraspol would need to settle for a draw, Sebastien Thill scored a superb goal in the 90th minute to hand his side arguably their biggest ever win and cause perhaps the biggest upset in Champions League history.
