Liverpool were linked with a move for Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe during the 2021 summer transfer window.
However, PSG sporting director Leonardo has confirmed that Real Madrid were the only club to submit a formal offer for the Frenchman. The Ligue 1 club rejected the offer from the Spanish giants.
Leonardo further added that he does not see Mbappe leaving PSG when his contract expires in June 2022. As things stand, the striker could be available on a free transfer next summer.
Liverpool may not have made a move for Mbappe last summer. However, we do hope that the club attempts to sign the Frenchman sometime soon.
Mbappe is a top player. The forward has scored 136 goals and registered 64 assists in 177 appearances for PSG’s first-team.
Mbappe has also won the past three Ligue 1 Golden Boots.
The striker is only 22 years of age. Therefore, Mbappe could lead Liverpool’s line for a number of years. Only time will tell if Liverpool are genuinely interested in the Frenchman.
