Manchester United have snapped up highly-rated youngster Harrison Parker following his exit from Arsenal this summer.
Parker, 15, revealed the switch to United on social media on Monday confirming he’d earned a contract after impressing on trial.
The teenager decided to quit the Gunners earlier this year as he looked to continue his development away from the Emirates.
United faced serious competition to sign the England youth international, but fought off a host of big name rivals to land the defender, who has gone straight into their U15 side following his arrival.
Posting on social media earlier in the week Parker uploaded a picture of himself with his new Red Devils shirt emblazoned with the No.5 on the back and spoke of his joy at making the move.
“Excited to have officially signed for @manchesterunited,” he wrote on Instagram. “The new chapter starts and the hard work continues.”
Parker impressed the United coaches during a summer trip to Northern Ireland as the club marked the 30th anniversary of their memorable Milk Cup win in 1991.
United triumphed in the U16 section of the famous youth tournament when they defeated Scottish outfit Hearts in the decider.
The match is remembered not just for the result, but for the players who featured and went on to star under Sir Alex Ferguson.
Who do you think will be the next United academy star to make an impact on the first-team? Let us know in the comments section.
David Beckham skippered the side which featured fellow Class of 92 graduates Paul Scholes, Gary Neville and Nicky Butt.
Although the above names are no longer involved at United, Parker will have plenty of big names to look up to in the first-team.
The likes of Mason Greenwood, Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard all graduated from the club’s academy before establishing themselves as senior professionals.
