Man Utd monitoring Franck Kessie’s situation

Manchester United are reportedly amongst the clubs monitoring the situation of AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie ahead of a possible transfer.

What’s the story?

According to 90min, several Premier League clubs have asked the 24-year-old’s representatives to keep them informed over his future plans. It’s believed that a move to England’s top-flight is high up on the player’s wishlist as he believes the league would be best suited to his all-action style.

The Ivory Coast international’s current deal expires next summer, meaning he could depart San Siro on a free transfer in under 12 months’ time, or for a significantly reduced fee over the winter.

90min’s report states that: “Sources close to the player have informed 90min that the player has turned down Milan’s latest offer.

“Milan have not yet given up hope of keeping the Ivorian international, although it has been communicated that an increase to their current offer will not be put forward as it stands.”

Would Kessie be a good signing?

After scoring 30 goals and providing 15 assists in 189 appearances for Milan, Kessie has caught the eye of several onlookers, including former Italy striker Antonio Cassano, who even compared him to a previous Premier League great.

“I want Kessie in my team, he scores, he assists, he has personality, he has quality, he doesn’t lose the ball, he is intelligent. I’m watching him carefully, against Roma, he was devastating,” he said (via MilanLive).

“He reminds me of the Yaya Touré of the best times. He is a different player, but in terms of impact, he is holding Milan’s midfield alone.”

Kessie’s technical ability and eye for a pass combined with his natural physical prowess makes the £49.5m-rated gem an appealing prospect for any top manager, and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would surely love to add the African midfielder to his ranks.

With Paul Pogba’s future still far from secure, football director John Murtough must swoop for the Milan ace, ensuring United’s engine room remains a formidable force.
