Liverpool are prepared to do battle with the likes of Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain to sign Borussia Dortmund talisman Erling Haaland ahead of next season, according to reports. The Reds have long been linked with a move for the 20-year-old, who has established himself as one of Europe’s most feared strikers during his time in Germany.
Haaland has scored 68 goals from just 67 appearances for Dortmund since joining the club from Red Bull Salzburg in January of last year.
He has enjoyed a stellar start to the new campaign, scoring seven times and registering another four assists in five outings.
The Norwegian marksman has been linked with a number of the world’s top clubs for some time and could soon leave Dortmund, with his £64.1million release clause set to become active at the end of the season.
The Bundesliga heavyweights were determined to keep hold of Haaland during the recent summer window but could be powerless to stop him from seeking a new challenge in less than a year’s time.
He also requested around £34.3m in agent fees before the Blues ultimately ended up signing Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan for a club-record fee.
It remains to be seen whether Liverpool will be able to pip their European rivals in the race to sign Haaland, who is widely expected to leave his current club at the end of the campaign.
The Reds are believed to be keen on refreshing their current attacking options, with West Ham United forward Jarrod Bowen also understood to be on Jurgen Klopp’s radar.
