Liverpool spent much of the summer linked to AS Roma midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini, who was thought to have a release clause in his contract allowing offers of 30 million euros to be accepted.
However, no bids were forthcoming, and with his contract currently set to run out in just 12 months (as per transfermarkt), there are surely clubs keen to take the Italian maestro on a free transfer should he become available.
With Liverpool having lost Georgino Wijnaldum in the summer on a free, Lorenzo Pellegrini could provide a similarly energetic option in Jurgen Klopp’s midfield.
However, it seems as though the 25 year old will not be available for free any time soon.
“Lorenzo Pellegrini will extend his contract. He wants to stay, we want him to be a part of AS Roma project and so the agreement is really close to being completed. He’ll be our captain for many years”
This will come as a huge blow to those who were interested in adding him to their ranks on a free transfer next summer.
