Jamie Carragher says Liverpool made an amazing signing in 2017 which isn’t talked about enough

Jamie Carragher says that Liverpool’s signing of Mohamed Salah from Roma is not given enough credit on Monday Night Football, which was broadcast by Sky Sports.

Unheralded signing?

Salah joined Liverpool from Roma back in 2017, and he has scored consistently ever since he walked through the gates at Anfield.

When Liverpool’s Premier League title win is talked about it is always claimed that Alisson and Virgil van Dijk are the players who transformed the team.

But Carragher feels that Salah’s signing was just as important for Liverpool’s fortunes.

And the Reds icon wishes that Salah got more attention sometimes.

“He’s massively important and sometimes I feel for Mo Salah in that he goes under the radar in terms of Liverpool winning the league,” Carragher said.

“People always go back to the signings of Alisson and Van Dijk.

“Salah only came in six months before. It is almost the three of them, if you like. It’s always mentioned that the keeper and the centre-back took Liverpool to the next level, but Mo Salah is part of that.”

Michael Edwards’ decision to bring in Salah for just £34 million (BBC Sport) does seem a brilliant buy now.

Liverpool certainly pulled off a bargain coup when they got hold of the attacker, who has proved that he is capable of netting well over 20 goals a season on multiple occasions.

Salah is one of the most feared attackers in England now, and he continues to hit the back of the net with great regularity.

Salah scored for Liverpool in their 3-0 win over Leeds United at the weekend, and he has started the season in superb form to help Jurgen Klopp’s side reach the summit at this early stage.
