Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich apparently faces a battle with Barcelona to sign Russian wonderkid Arsen Zakharyan. The 18-year-old has attracted attention from the European giants after a string of standout performances for Dynamo Moscow.
Zakharyan has played 20 Russian Premier Liga matches for Dynamo, racking up four goals and eight assists.
The midfielder also made his international debut at the start of this month in Russia’s World Cup qualifying stalemate with Croatia.
He was handed his second cap six days later as Russia defeated Malta 2-0 to secure a fourth win from their six qualifiers.
Chelsea have recently been linked with the midfielder but, according to journalist Nobel Arustamyan, Barcelona are now pushing ahead to sign the highly-rated youngster.
“Arsen Zakharyan’s game in Dynamo, at the Youth Euro and his debut in the adult Russian national team did not go unnoticed in Europe,” Arustamyan wrote according to Championat.
