Bryan Gil reveals the one thing Spurs have asked him to do since he joined from Sevilla

Bryan Gil has revealed he has been asked to pile on some pounds since his move from Sevilla to Tottenham.

The Spaniard was part of a swap deal with Erik Lamela during the summer transfer window and has since been trying to work hard to break into the starting XI for the Lilywhites.

The 20-year-old has started in all three Europa Conference League games so far this season and played 90 minutes in the Carabao Cup fixture against Wolves.

In the Premier League, Gil has made a few appearances after coming on as a substitute and has showed his energy and potential in those fixtures.

The North London Derby is usually a game that both sides are prepared for and show their passion for their club badges.

However, in Sunday’s fixture, most of the Tottenham players looked anything but passionate and they lost 3-1 at the Emirates.

Gil came on to replace Tanguy Ndombele in the final 20 minutes of the game but was one of only a few Spurs players who looked up for the game, even though by that point it was too late for the Lilywhites to get anything out of the contest against Arsenal.

The summer signing played a part in the build-up to Tottenham’s only goal of the game, coming from Son Heung-min and he also made some crosses in the box.

He got himself down the line on the left-hand side and at least tried to help get Nuno Espirito Santo’s side something out of the Derby.

Looking ahead to their Europa Conference League game against NS Mura on Thursday, the Spanish international revealed what he has been asked to do since coming to north London.

“I think you can see. I’ve been requested to gain some weight, improve my physical condition and work hard,” he revealed.

Some Spurs fans have suggested Gil tries to put on a few pounds and build his physique so that he can add strength to the promising ability he has already shown glimpses of.

If he can build some muscle and continue with his energy on the pitch, he could become a solid player and one that could help Tottenham improve their recent poor form.

Espirito Santo’s side drew their first group game of the European competition in a 2-2 draw against Rennes and they will be hoping to secure victory against Slovenian side NS Mura who, on paper at least, are their easiest opponents they will initially face.
