Agent says Crystal Palace ‘showed lot of interest’ in striker

Sevilla striker Munir had an offer from Crystal Palace this summer but elected to stay in Spain to fight for his place at the club.

That’s according to ABC Sevilla, who carry comments from his agent confirming the interest from the Eagles.

Crystal Palace spent much of the summer looking to add a striker to their squad, with their forward line struggling last season.

Only Wilfried Zaha and Christian Benteke managed double figures, and their tallies of 11 goals and ten goals were hardly groundbreaking.

After that, Palace’s third top goalscorer was Eberechi Eze with four, meaning it was an issue Patrick Vieira was keen to resolve when he arrived to replace Roy Hodgson.

That eventually saw Odsonne Edouard arrive from Celtic, but before then, they had been linked with several other strikers around Europe.

Munir was not one of those named, but according to his agent, they were more than keen on taking him to Selhurst Park, however, the player wasn’t keen.

“Monchi valued him at ten million euros at the beginning of the market and in the last few days, he would have considered loaning him out with an option to buy,” Valdi told ABC.

“He has had many offers and interest from many teams. In Holland, both PSV Eindhoven and Feyenoord have been interested in him until the last minute. Ajax were also considering him.

“That was a good option, but perhaps his long period of inactivity took its toll. In England, both Crystal Palace and West Ham showed a lot of interest until the last day of the market.

“Munir didn’t want to leave Sevilla or LaLiga. In Spain, the offers he has received have not been to his liking.”
