Aaron Ramsdale says Arsenal have signed a top talent who ‘lives and breathes football’

Aaron Ramsdale says Arsenal have signed a top talent who ‘lives and breathes football’

Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has waxed lyrical about fellow Gunners summer signing Takehiro Tomiyasu.

The north Londoners are in great form currently, and Ramsdale and Tomiyasu have played a huge role in this.

Arsenal had lost their opening three Premier League games of the season without scoring a single goal.

But after the international break, Ramsdale replaced Leno in between the sticks and Tomiyasu – who signed on deadline day – joined the club.

Arsenal have won their last three league games as well as progressed in the Carabao Cup with a 3-0 win over AFC Wimbledon.

Mikel Arteta’s charges were especially impressive against Spurs last time out, racing into a three-goal lead en route to a 3-1 win.

Both Ramsdale and Tomiyasu shone in the North London derby and have quickly become fan favourites at the Emirates.

The former Sheffield United man took part in an “Ask Me Anything” session on Arsenal’s Twitch channel on Thursday and spoke highly of his colleague at right-back.

“He loves football,” he said. “He just lives and breathes football. You forget he is 22 years old.”

Tomiyasu joined Arsenal for a reported £17million from Bologna.

He had played for the Italian club since 2019, when he joined from Belgium’s Sint-Truiden for a reported £6.3million.

Prior to joining Sint-Truiden, Tomiyasu came through the ranks at Japanese club Avispa Fukuoka.

He has also won 24 caps for Japan since making his debut in 2018.
